Mark Platt 16 March 2007 Rick Parry has confirmed that a review of the proposed new stadium plans is taking place but insists the club remain totally committed to moving. | |
The possibility of increasing the planned 60,000 capacity is being investigated, as are ways of further improving facilities for the fans, but the Liverpool chief executive is keen to stress that everything remains on schedule. "We are conducting a very swift review of what is possible," said Parry. "Work has been halted very temporarily in some areas, but our commitment to the new stadium and the regeneration of the Anfield area in general is total. There's no question of that. "But if there is going to be a review of what might be possible, now is the time. If there are going to be any changes, however, it will be a case of scaling up, not downscaling. "We want nothing but the best facilities for our supporters because that is what they deserve and we just want to understand exactly what the options are for the future. If there are ways of constructing the stadium which would allow for future expansion, we want to investigate it. "It makes perfect common sense. We don't want to steam ahead into something which might prevent expansion in the future." |
