Jimmy Rice 13 February 2007 Liverpool's on-loan goalkeeper Daniele Padelli believes Italian football could learn much from the English game following recent hooliganism which resulted in the death of a policeman. | |
In liverpoolfc.tv's latest Big Interview, the Italian speaks of his sadness at the tragedy and calls for an end to the culture of football violence in his homeland. "Italian football could do with becoming more like it is here in England. It could learn a lot from the game here, not just on the pitch, but also all the things that happen off it," says the 21-year-old, who has signed from Sampdoria until the end of the season. "I want to say that this isn't a new thing. This kind of thing has always happened, though maybe not quite at this level. If you know anything about Italian football, you know there is hooliganism. I just think it is about time something was done about it." In a frank and revealing chat, Padelli makes public his pride at being the first Italian ever to sign for Liverpool and explains how he's settling into life in England. The 6ft 4in goalie also speaks of his respect for the club's other stoppers and outlines his determination to repay the faith of Rafa Benitez. |
