Jimmy Rice 09 March 2007 Kop legend Phil Thompson has warned Liverpool not to be complacent going into the quarter-final tie with PSV. | |
The two-time European Cup winner points to last year's second round defeat against Benfica – a tie which was labeled as favorable by fans and pundits. "It's a fantastic draw but the one worrying thing is we thought the same thing last year when we got Benfica. We need to pay PSV respect," said Thompson following Friday's Champions League draw in Athens. "We played them in the group stages and it was comfortable, but let's not get complacent. The warning is there – Benfica. "Having said all that, you've got to be happy, it could be a fantastic European campaign for Liverpool. "The second leg being at Anfield when the players will know what they have to do, it couldn't have turned out much better." |
