RAFA: WE'RE NOT GOING FOR A DRAW

Jimmy Rice 05 March 2007
Rafa Benitez has ordered his players to take the game to Barcelona on Tuesday night despite holding a 2-1 lead from the away leg.
The Spaniard believes it would be dangerous for the Reds to rest on their laurels against one of the best attacking sides in the world.

"Our idea is to try to win. We've been talking to the players and told them not to think about the first leg. We need to think of it as a new game at Anfield. We have a different plan," Benitez told a press conference on Monday.

"If we'd gone over to Barca and got a draw, we'd be talking now about the tie being close and wondering if we'd get through. We've got to start tomorrow with this mentality.

"It's a game against a very, very good team. We need to go into the game thinking we need to win and we should win, that's the attitude.

"We have enough quality in our squad so we won't be thinking: Oh, a draw will be good."

Meanwhile, Benitez revelead his job is in some ways easier during massive games like this.

"The players are ready, we've been training well and we have an idea. The players are really focussed and ready for this game. I won't need to say anything to them. Sometimes in these kind of games it's best for the manager to say not a lot."
