Jimmy Rice 22 February 2007 Xabi Alonso revealed Liverpool cannot wait for Barca to come to town in the second leg of their Champions League showdown. | |
The 2005 winners beat the current holders in the Nou Camp on Wednesday – but the Spaniard is aware the job is far from done. The second leg in two weeks' time is sure to be another memorable Anfield night. "We are delighted with the result," said Alonso. "I think we have performed in the way we wanted to before the game. "We are really happy and are looking forward to the second leg at Anfield. "Of course, it is a massive success for us. It is always a hard game here, so to win in a Champions League tie against Barcelona in the Nou Camp is always great." Keeper Jose Reina praised his team's resilience for coming back from Deco's early header. "It was brilliant. I think we have worked really hard from the beginning, and also with the goal against us in the first minutes, it was a little bit difficult," he said. "At the end, we are so happy because the result is great." |
