Rafael Benitez has heaped praise on his captain Steven Gerrard and has called on his players to look at how he plays and be inspired by his high levels of consistency and performance.
The Liverpool manager said Gerrard is an inspirational captain and wants the rest of his players to follow suit and follow his example. "I'm particularly pleased with Steven Gerrard who is pushing everyone on at the moment and being a leader," enthused Benitez. "He is taking responsibility. He is saying to the others follow me, and now all the players must see his example and do the same. Earlier in the season people were saying he was not at his best level, and now he is playing very well. "With players like Gerrard, Carra and Xabi, I know when they lead the other players will follow them, and they will take us in the right direction."
